About
"Painting is silent poetry and poetry is painting that speaks" (Plutarch)
The Violet Hour is a collaborative enterprise, focused on publicising emerging contemporary art, via pop-up exhibitions in non-gallery spaces as well as gallery collaborations. It showcases the work of artists in the early to mid stages of their careers, across a range of media. For more about many of the artists we’ve worked with, please visit our Artists page.
Its name borrowed from Eliot’s The Waste Land, The Violet Hour was launched in 2013 by curators and art consultants Sarah Reynolds and Alex Wellesley Wesley. Inspiration for each project stems from their shared love of poetry.
Complementary to the exhibitions schedule, The Violet Hour advises corporate and private clients on collecting emerging art. From time to time, they also undertake programmes with more established artists under VH Projects.
